The 2010 census count will affect political representation and direct the allocation of billions in government spending. Based on successful work during the 2000 census, The Trust, New York Foundation, and Open Society Institute formed the 2010 Census Funders NYC Initiative to fund efforts by 35 groups to get a more accurate census count.

Our Donors Speak

“After many years of volunteering at a local museum and observing the development office trying to raise money, I began to imaging how good it would feel to underwrite special projects. Then one night at a dinner party, the man next to me was telling me how he was involved with The New York Community Trust. I went home that night with lots of ideas and called The Trust the next day. A few weeks later I was in Bob Edgar’s office signing papers to begin a wonderful chapter in my life. It has made my life richer.” — Susan Wells Donnell
