Why Donors Choose The Trust

  • You want to make a difference.
Whether you want to feed the hungry, educate kids, protect our environment, nourish the arts, revitalize neighborhoods, strengthen families, or [you choose the goal], The Trust can help.

"The Trust offers a useful way to contribute highly appreciated assets, but it's also a good way to encourage children to be charitable."

- Richard W. Moore, trusts and estates attorney and Trust donor
  • You want flexibility.
Whether you want to do your giving now (we pioneered donor-advised funds in 1931) or leave a legacy for future generations, we can help you start a fund that meets your needs.

We offer as much - or as little - assistance as you want.
    Donor-advised funds
can be unrestricted, giving you complete flexibility, or for a field of interest, such as helping the elderly or children. You can advise a field-of-interest fund, or have us find the most effective nonprofits working on the issues you care about.

  • You want to work with experts.
Our staff is nationally respected for its grantmaking, financial management, and excellent service. We work with government, other funders, and nonprofits to find solutions to the City's problems and stay alert to emerging issues and opportunities. Our board is nominated by five civic authorities and by our trustee banks for their knowledge of the City.
  • You want to fund the future.
We honor the legacies of past donors forever, making grants to charities tackling today's problems from funds set up many years ago.

Winning Funding for Public Schools

Too many City kids attend school in crumbling, overcrowded buildings with overburdened teachers and limited technology. For 15 years, The Trust has made it a priority to get more State funding for City kids.
