Strong systems of education and justice, and vibrant cultural resources are the hallmarks of a civilized society. The Trust is concerned that public schools are not meeting the needs of our children; arts organizations in our City are financially troubled; and institutions of justice are not serving everyone equally. We concentrate on projects that improve New York City's public education system; promote diversity, equity, and access in the arts; and advocate for the rights of all people.

The goals of this program are to make the New York City public schools effective for all students, and to build a broad constituency to support public education.
The goals of this program are to support preservation in low-income and minority communities and the boroughs outside of Manhattan, and restore historic places that represent significant and overlooked aspects of New York City’s history.
The goals of this program are to improve the operations of the justice system; to increase access to the system for vulnerable populations; to protect civil rights; and to promote harmony among different racial and ethnic groups.
