These guidelines apply to grant seekers only.

America's health care system is fragmented and full of gaps in service. Society often ignores the talents and productivity of people with special needs. The Trust supports projects that strengthen preventive health care, improve access to services, promote the efficient use of health resources, and develop the skills and independence of people with special needs.

Our grants fall within the following funding categories:

Funding Categories
AIDS/HIV

The goal of this program is to address the complex social, medical, and legal problems of people with HIV.


Biomedical Research

The Trust provides funding for biomedical research projects in three areas:

  • Blood Diseases
  • Cancer
  • Leprosy and Tuberculosis


Blindness & Visual Disabilities

The goals of this program are to support program innovation and reform and eliminate service gaps.


Children & Youth with Disabilities

The goals of this program are to stimulate policymakers and service providers to improve existing services for children with disabilities and to encourage a service approach that emphasizes independence and the development of full potential.


Elderly

The goals of this program are to enable elderly people to remain active in their communities and to meet the basic needs of those who are vulnerable and dependent.


Health Services, Systems, & Policy

The goal of this program is to improve the effectiveness, responsiveness, and equity of health care in New York City.


Healthcare for the Elderly

 


Mental Health & Mental Retardation

The goals of this program are to foster the independence of people with mental illness and mental retardation, and to encourage a community-based system of care.
