Trust programs help the city streamline and improve services for the youngest New Yorkers.
IMPROVE CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT

To ensure that children in disadvantaged neighborhoods grow up in stable families and succeed in school and life, we’ve helped:

  • Increase home-visiting services supporting first-time mothers.
  • Connect families to social supports when children are at risk of placement in foster care.
  • Improve the quality of home-based child care.

PROMOTE AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Providing students with after-school program options can engage kids who otherwise might pass up chances to excel. We’ve helped:

  • Build a program with the Heisman Trophy Trust to use sports to boost leadership skills and keep kids on track to graduate high school.
  • Expand sports, engineering, coding, and other STEM programs that help young women build self-esteem and perseverance.

AID THOSE WITH DISABILITIES

Families of children with disabilities often have trouble navigating the education system. We’ve helped:

  • Children with disabilities attend science and math classes, get specialized therapy, and use personalized equipment.
  • Coach teachers to work with children with autism and other disabilities.

IMPROVE THE ODDS FOR KIDS IN FOSTER CARE

Children in foster care often have family histories of abuse, neglect, and addiction. We’ve helped:

  • Ensure foster children with disabilities get coordinated health care and social services.
  • Make sure teens aging out of the system have adequate housing and move into careers or on to college.

PREPARING YOUNG PEOPLE FOR JOBS

Young people need the opportunity to build their resumés, learn new skills, and find employment. We’ve helped:

  • Create paid internships and career pathways in growing industries, including technology, health care, and construction trades.
  • Expand and make more effective Career and Technical Education high schools.
  • Support job training programs for hard-to-employ young adults, many of whom are recovering from addiction or on probation.
