Although we make most of our competitive grants year-round, we periodically issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or seek Letters of Interest (LOIs) for special grantmaking programs. Sometimes the opportunity is closed; for example, the RFP is mailed to a selected list of nonprofits; others are open for any nonprofit that wishes to apply.
The national and international environment program starts the process with an LOI, which can be submitted through the grant portal during three-week windows each fall (mid-September) and winter (mid-February). In 2018, submission windows will open on February 26 and September 17. These LOIs should be no more than four pages and include a description of the project, proposed activities, and a preliminary budget.
Older RFPs and LOIs that are no longer open appear below for informational purposes only.
