Although we make most of our competitive grants year-round, we periodically issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) or seek Letters of Interest (LOIs) for special grantmaking programs. Sometimes the opportunity is closed; for example, the RFP is mailed to a selected list of nonprofits; others are open for any nonprofit that wishes to apply.
The national and international environment program starts the process with an LOI, which can be submitted through the Grants Portal during three-week windows each fall (late September) and winter (late February). In 2020, the next submission window will open in the fall. These LOIs should be no more than four pages and include a description of the project, proposed activities, and a preliminary budget.
New York City Workforce Development Fund LOI postponement In light of the economic crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Committee of the New York City Workforce Development Fund has decided to postpone the second phase of the Fund’s Request for Letters of Interest. A revised timeline will be announced in early 2021.The Executive Committee will use the next several months to identify opportunities to support workforce organizations through the immediate crisis and to develop strategies to strengthen the workforce system during the city’s economic recovery.
